Earth Pigments: A Connection to Place and Process

Recently I have been working with earth pigments, foraging for rocks and other natural materials to create my own paints. This process yields vibrant, earth-toned colors that infuse the work with a strong sense of place while minimizing the environmental impact associated with synthetic paints. My creations, including surreal landscapes and imagery, explore the relationship between people and nature. Many of my watercolor paintings are mounted on wood panels shaped like the topographies of the rocks used to make the pigments, further linking the materials to the finished artwork. Additionally, I am illustrating a tarot deck titled Earthbound Tarot, which features 78 unique illustrations inspired by the landscapes where I forage.
