"Three of Swords" Framed Earth Pigment Painting

This original painting is from Earthbound Tarot, a 78-card deck I created using handmade earth pigments sourced across New Mexico. Each card in the deck was individually hand-painted using watercolors made from rocks and organic materials that I foraged myself.

About the Card:
A heart is pierced by three sharp swords, the blood flowing from the wounds, but still, it beats. The Three of Swords signifies heartbreak, sorrow, and the emotional pain that comes with loss or betrayal. It appears when we are hurting and when the weight of sadness feels overwhelming. Yet within this pain, there lies the opportunity for growth. As the heart continues to beat, so too does our capacity to heal. We may be tested by emotional challenges, but these trials can help us grow stronger and more resilient. This card encourages us to face our sorrow, to sit with the discomfort, knowing that on the other side, transformation awaits. From heartbreak, we gain clarity and emotional strength.
