"White Mesa" Original Earth Pigment Painting

This original watercolor painting is made with earth pigments, created through my process of foraging for rocks and natural materials and transforming them into paint. The resulting colors carry the rich, varied tones of the desert, reflecting the beauty and distinct hues of the landscapes they come from.

This piece features a tiny landscape painting of White Mesa in New Mexico, a place where I gather many of the materials used in my pigments. Because of this, the painting is not only a representation of the landscape, but is materially connected to it.

The artwork is mounted on a custom-cut wood panel shaped using the topography of the area, echoing the contours of White Mesa itself.
